Designing assessment task: imitative writing

Task in writing letters, words and punctuation

 Handwriting has the potential of becoming a lost art. Making the shapes of letter is more a question of learning taping skills.

1.- Copying

To copy letter or words


2.- Listening

Dictation with a writing script


3.- Picture cued task


Test-takers are told to write the word that the picture represents

 4.-Form completion task

A variation of picture that asks for names, address, phone number

5. Conversion numbers and abbreviation to words

Test takers are directed to write out the numbers and it is more for a reading task


Spelling task and detecting phonemes

1.- Spelling task

The teacher dictates a simple list of words followed by the word in a sentence repeated again with a pause for the test taker to write the word

2.- Picture cued task


Picture are display based on familiar words 

3.- Multiple choice techniques

Presenting words and phrases in the form of multiple choice question
